Calgary Inferno 2017-18 Season Preview

To say the Calgary Inferno have been a success is an understatement. The Calgary franchise in the CWHL has been a staple since the league was founded in 2011 and have been one of the league’s best teams over the last 3 season. The Inferno have found themselves in the Clarkson Cup title game in the last 2 seasons, capturing the title 2 years ago, while falling last year to the Les Canadiennes 3-1 in the title game. The Inferno were tops in the CWHL last season with a record of 20-4 and a league leading 40 points. They also had 4 skaters in the Top 10 in points last season: Brianne Jenner (27), Bailey Bram (24), Rebecca Johnston (22) and Iya Gavrilova (21). The Inferno were also dominant in the crease with 2 of their goaltenders occupying the #1 and #3 spots in the league (Emerance Maschmeyer & Genevieve Lacasse). With two trips to the title game, a league best record/points under their belt and their team leaders returning, the Inferno should continue to be one of the best teams in the CWHL in 2017-18.
