Calgary Gets Their First Look At Seattle

Seattle comes to the Saddledome for the first time Wednesday night and this isn’t going to be an easy contest.

Calgary Flames (0-2-0) - Seattle Kraken (1-1-0)

The Flames will get their first ever look at the Seattle Kraken tonight as the expansion franchise visits the Saddledome. The Kraken won their first game in franchise history, defeating the Vancouver Canucks by the score of 5-3, with old friend Mark Giordano putting three shots on goal in his debut with his new team. The Kraken came back to Earth rather quickly, getting throttled by the Edmonton Oilers 6-0 Tuesday night, who were in regular season mode with the usual suspects doing most of the damage.

The Flames will be looking for a more consistent effort from their defence and it sounds like we will finally see the likes of Johnny Gaudreau, Matthew Tkachuk, Elias Lindholm and Noah Hanifin actually take the ice. While most teams have sprinkled in their star players, the Flames best have yet to suit up on the season and the results have been predictable. Calgary hasn’t won a preseason game (or looked real competitive) and have been outscored 8-2. Now is probably a good time to get some of the higher end bodies on the ice and start to build some cohesion with those groupings.

And forget the idea that adding those players will make this a cake walk because it won’t be. Calgary scored only two goals against the Canucks Monday night. The Kraken found themselves down by three and stormed back to net five tallies against Vancouver and collect the franchise’s first ever victory.

Puck drop is at 7 PM MT, let’s see if the Flames show up in their third preseason game or not.
