This is such a pivotal off-season

The Calgary Flames are an intriguing team. They tried running back Johnny-Mony-Lindolm-Tkachuk enough times, last year adding the goalie that was supposed to be the final piece, that a trade seems inevitable. But if a trade is made just to make a trade, the division cellar awaits.

I'd keep Johnny over Mony, but that Monahan trade stands to have the bigger impact on the team. They cannot screw up his trade. You can move Backlund up to your number two center but that cant be your long term answer. They seem stuck on Dube playing RW but ultimately that's the team's weakest position.

I'd move on from all 10 UFA's. Bring back Frolik, go after Kyle Palmieri. Handful of serviceable 3rd pairing defenceman available to raise the floor. In the ultimate dream sequence Ryan is signed just to be taken by Seattle. Not so extreme exaggeration: this is a critical off-season in Calgary...moreso than usual.
