The Flames needed a lift from somewhere and Mikael Backlund did all he could to provide that spark. Backlund would score twice on the night, his first multi goal game of the season. Of his two goals, his short handed tally tied the game at 3-3 and gave the Flames a puncher’s chance, but in the end it wasn’t enough. Backlund would retrieve a loose puck and start a 2 on 1 with Elias Lindholm. A pretty give and go in a tight space would net Backlund his 8th of the season and the shortie was only the Flames second marker while on the PK in 2021.
