The Morning After
Calgary Flames 2 - Edmonton Oilers 3
Tidbits
-Papa Was A Rollin Stone: Michael Stone has been getting some NHL time lately and he made the most of it last night against Edmonton. Stone would rip a slap shot from just inside the blue line, beating Mike Smith and putting the Flames up 1-0. The goal was the first for Stone in 2021.
-Two Streaks Ended: The Flames had two streaks come to an end last night. One on the PK, one on the PP. The Flames had killed off 16 straight PK’s, but Ryan Nugent-Hopkins would end that streak when would score with the man advantage just over a minute into the second period. The Flames also had scored a PPG in four straight, but that came to an end as well with Calgary going 0-2 on the night.
-Almost There: Connor McDavid sank the Flames last night with his game winning, power play goal at the 7:00 mark of the third period. That’s his 7th GWG on the season that puts him one behind Auston Matthews for the league lead.
