The Flames announced today that Noah Hanifin will have season ending shoulder surgery. The Calgary defenceman was injured at the beginning of Calgary's 5-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens Saturday night and did not return to action.

This leaves a rather large hole in the Flames defence units as Hanifin was having one of his best defensive seasons to date.

The Flames have yet to announce who will be added to the roster to take Hanifin's spot. In 47 games this season Hanifin has 4 goals, 11 assists and is averaging 20:01 of total ice time.
