The Morning After
Calgary Flames 2 - Winnipeg Jets 3
I guess you have to give the Flames some credit as they put forth a valiant effort to erase a two goal deficit, but ultimately fell to the Maple Leafs 3-2 Friday night. Calgary didn’t get on the board until 6:52 of the third period and by then it was too late. The Jets would pump in their third goal of the night late in the period and despite a goal by Matthew Tkachuk with two minutes left, Calgary didn’t have enough left in the tank to come away with two points.
Tidbits
-4 In A Row: And not in the right direction. Calgary’s playoff hopes are slip sliding away as they dropped their 4th straight game Friday night. This is the first time this season that the Flames have had a losing streak longer than three game.
-On The Board: Mikael Backlund picked up an assist on Milan Lucic’s PPG in the third period Friday night. The assist is only the fifth time he’s made the scoresheet in his last twelve games.
-Suspension Looming?: If not suspension, maybe a fine? Milan Lucic had a wonderful series last night where he collected two for boarding and two for roughing for his troubles. The hit came midway through the third period as Lucic checked Mason Appleton, who’s back was to Lucic, head first into the boards.
