Highlight Of The Night
Goals are pretty. Let’s face it, the highlight of the night is typically a slick goal that came from a slick pass and we post it, we “ooh” and “ahh” and life goes on. The Flames had four goals tonight that could all easily have occupied this space, but we’re throwing Jacob Markstrom some love. With the Flames nursing a 4-3 lead with under 10 seconds left and the Oilers attacking with six players on the ice, Markstrom made the biggest save/play of the game to secure a 4-3 win for the Flames. Edmonton broke out the zone and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins entered the Flames zone and had a streaking Jesse Puljujarvi on his right side. RNH dished the puck and Puljujarvi had Markstrom beat and fired a shot to the Flames’ keeper’s blocker side. A quick reacting Markstrom punched out at the puck and got enough blocker on the puck to send it wide as time was winding down and the Flames would hold on for the one goal victory over the Oilers.
