Recap

The Calgary Flames get rocked in their own house. Jacob Markstrom would get the start in net for the Flames before being pulled for Rittich half way into the third period.

Flames’ Simon with a give away, that turned into a rush for the Vancouver Canucks and resulted in an early goal, less than two minutes into the game.

Markstrom was playing with an extra chip on his shoulder today. Coming way out of the net to meet Tanner Pearson and knock him out his feet to save a potential break away goal.

Then he did it again. Bo Horvat deked right past a sprawling Markstrom. Canucks with an extra step on the Flames from the get go.

Andrew Mangiapane would showcase some moves of his own and put the Flames within one after scoring on Canucks’ Braden Holtby.

The Flames would be extinguished 15 seconds after the Mangiapane goal. JT Miller beating Markstrom top corner to make it 3-1 Canucks. Then 37 seconds later Nate Schmidt would make it 4-1. Markstrom making some good saves, but the Canucks were relentless with the pressure, and the Flames just sat back.

Markstrom stays in net to start the third period, with the Flames down by 3. Getting no help from his teammates as Vancouver scores to make it 5-1 — Canucks 4-on-1 and Brock Boeser scores, getting his third point of the game.

David Rittich would play the last 12:13 of the game in net for the Flames, making 4 saves on 4 shots.

Markstrom would end the night 24-29 save-shots, and Holtby with 35-36 save-shots.
