The Calgary Flames big summer acquisition will have to wait a little bit longer to make his official debut with the club. Blake Coleman has been suspended for one preseason and one regular season game for boarding Winnipeg Jets forward Jansen Harkins in last night’s preseason game.

Coleman received a two minute boarding penalty on the play and later had to answer to Harkins in the third period with both receiving 10 minute misconducts. Here is the full breakdown video from the NHL regarding the suspension:

With the suspension, Coleman will miss Friday night’s game against the Jets, and then miss the Flames season opening game on Saturday October 16 against the Edmonton Oilers. Coleman will be eligible to return on Monday October 18 in the home opener against the Anaheim Ducks. This is the first time Coleman has received supplemental discipline in his career from the NHL. Not a great start to his Flames tenure.
