Calgary Flames (2-3-1) – Winnipeg Jets (1-2-1)

TV: ESPN+ – Radio: Sportsnet 960

The Flames are in Winnipeg tonight to take on the Jets and will be playing without a significant roster piece (if he was even scheduled to play). Johnny Gaudreau is listed on the Flames injury report with an “undisclosed” injury and will not make the trip. Gaudreau was having a fantastic game against the Oilers Monday night, but sustained some sort of injury in the second period and did not return in the Flames 4-3 loss to Edmonton. No need to panic as Darryl Sutter said it was minor after the game, but it’s never good to see his name on the injury report.

The Flames aren’t the only team down a significant player either. Winnipeg will be without Mark Scheifele as he is still suspended for his hit on Jake Evans in Game 1 of the NHL Playoffs last season.

The Flames come into this game having lost a tough contest to the Edmonton Oilers Monday night. Calgary staked themselves to a 3-0 lead only to see Edmonton score four unanswered goals and send the Flames home with a 4-3 loss. Not an ideal situation, especially when Calgary dressed an almost complete NHL roster. Winnipeg has had it’s struggles this preseason as well, dropping three of their first four games. A lack of goal scoring is one of their issues as they are only averaging 2.5 goals per game in those three losses. Depending on what lineup the Flames put on on the ice tonight that could help the Jets or it could keep them on their current path of offensive futility.

Puck drop is at 6 PM MT from the Canadian Life Centre in Winnipeg. The game can be seen on ESPN+ or you can listen on Sportsnet 960 The Fan.
