Calgary Flames (2-2-1) - Edmonton Oilers (3-1-1)

An almost fully dressed Calgary Flames team will head to Edmonton tonight to take on an almost fully dressed Edmonton Oilers team. What does this mean? Well, it’s going to give you a really good look at where each of these teams stands a the regular season is quickly approaching. The Flames will dress Sean Monahan and Noah Hanifin for the first time this preseason, which is something most fans have been waiting to see. Hanifin, mainly, because of how he played last season and how he will recover from his season ending injury. As for Monahan, he’s a different story. The Flames centre has been oft injured over the last few seasons and his play has declined as well. Is one a symptom of the other or are they separate issues? Either way this is a big season for Sean Monahan as his name has been whispered in many a trade scenarios and he needs to show the Flames he’s the player that took the league by storm in his first few seasons and not the slow, offensive deficient player he’s become over the last three years.

As for Edmonton, they continue to just be good. In Edmonton’s three preseason wins they have scored 14 goals and surrendered only three tallies. Connor McDavid has five preseason points, Jesse Puljujarvi has three goals (third best) and Leon Draisaitl had three assists as well. Basically the Oilers are clicking on all cylinders and will look to make the Flames lives miserable in their first trip to Edmonton this season.

Puck drop is at 7 P M MT at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
