Once again, the HOTN belongs to Calgary’s top goaltender in Jacob Markstrom. The Flames were staked to a 2-0 lead as the second period got underway and immediately Markstrom was tested and he passed with flying colors. Detroit had just kept the puck in the Calgary zone and Nick Leddy was waiting on Markstrom’s blocker side for a feed. That feed would come and Leddy would fire the puck on net, but Jacob Markstrom was having none of it. He would slide to his far post and extend with his stick, stopping Leddy’s shot and keeping the score 2-0. On the night as a whole Markstrom would stop all 33 shots that came his way, but none as spectacular as that.
