Dustin Wolf just continues to win. After winning the CHL Goaltender of the year award in 2019-20, Wolf followed up with an even more impressive WHL season once things finally got underway. Wolf posted four shutouts and an extremely impressive .940 SV% through 22 games in a shortened WHL season, ultimately leading his Everett Silvertips to the 2nd best record in the league and dressing in all but one game.
As a result in won the Del Wilson Memorial Trophy as the WHL’s goaltender of the year for the second straight season. Watching his development in Everett was so impressive, but it was almost as a shame that he couldn’t have been facing more of a challenge at the AHL level.
Wolf got into three games with the Stockton Heat in Feburary before the WHL season began, and after a rough first game, he posted two victories over a veteran Toronto Marlies team. In the final two games Wolf stopped 62 of 65 shots (.954 SV%) to lead the way for the team. He will certainly be among the big names to watch with Stockton this year along with other top organizational prospects in Jakob Pelletier and Connor Zary.
Oh yeah, Wolf also won a Gold Medal with Team USA at the 2021 World Junior Hockey Championship as a backup goaltender to superstar prospect Spencer Knight. Wolf was perfect in his two appearances with a shutout victory and helping his team to a come from behind win early in the tournament after Knight was chased.
Wolf had a pair of pretty impressive prospect games this fall with the team and performed well in his limited preseason action. He also had a shutout in Stockton’s pre-season opener the other night as well. He is a can’t miss prospect in the organization right now as he continues to exceed expectations wherever he ends up.
