The Morning After
Calgary Flames 2 - Montreal Canadiens 0
Tidbits
-900 & Counting: Mark Giordano reached a significant career milestone last night, playing in his 900th career NHL game. Not bad for someone who was undrafted and took the long road to get to the NHL. That amount of games puts him second all time in Flames history, just 319 behind Jarome Iginla for the top spot with the organization.
-300 & Counting: Not quite 900 games, but Matthew Tkachuk also reached a games played milestone last night. The Flames 7th game of the season was the 300th of Tkachuk’s career.
-PP Is The Bomb: Johnny Gaudreau made sure the Flames PP success carried on last night as he scored the Calgary’s opening goal of the game, making in the 7th straight game the Flames have scored a PPG. Calgary’s PP is operating at 29.4%, good for 8th overall.
-Shut ‘Em Out, Shut ‘Em Down: Jacob Markstrom recorded his second shut out of the season in only his 6th start with the Flames, which is impressive seeing he only had two all of last year. The loss handed the Canadiens their first defeat in regulation of 2021.
