Reports are swirling suggesting that both Mark Scheifele and Patrik Laine will miss this afternoon's game in Edmonton due to injury. Laine was injured on a play where he met up with Mark Giordano and appears to have sustained an upper body injury.
The more well known injury out of the two is the lower body injury that Scheifele sustained when he went into the boards with Matthew Tkachuk in tow. I'm going to describe it, just watch it and form your own opinion:
Emotions ran high after the hit during the game as Blake Wheeler and Tkachuk would drop the gloves and fight as retaliation for the hit.
After the game emotions ran even higher as Winnipeg Jets coach Paul Maurice had some choice words for the Flames Associate Captain.
“He could have cut his achilles. He could have ended the man’s career. It’s an absolutely filthy, disgusting hit.”

Paul Maurice did not hold back when talking about the Matthew Tkachuk-Mark Scheifele incident: pic.twitter.com/vRbmiv9u57
Matthew Tkachuk on the other hand, predictably and rightfully so, defended himself in the post game press availability and his coach came to his defence as well.
"I feel at this point in time I have to defend my player." @NHLFlames head coach Geoff Ward opened up his press conference by immediately defending Matthew Tkachuk after the Flames forward caused controversy with a hit on Mark Scheifele. https://t.co/GkHGqkfVql

No official report has come from the Jets as of yet, but they are expected to play without two of their best players.
Calgary defeated Winnipeg in Game 1 Saturday night by the score of 4-1. Game 2 is this afternoon at 12:30 PM MT at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
