Staff Predictions & Lines: The Flames Will Stick With What's Working

Here’s a look at how we think tonight will go and the Flames lineup as they take on the Dallas Stars.

Staff Predictions

Calgary Flames vs Dallas Stars, 8:30 PM MT, Rogers Place, Edmonton AB

Favorite: Dallas Line: -110 O/U: 5.0

8/11: Game 1- Calgary Flames 3 - Dallas Stars 2

Predictions

Mark: Calgary Flames 4 - Dallas Stars 2

Keep it rollin’! If the Flames can keep playing the way they have been, then this should go their way. Dallas came out slow and rebounded in Game 1, but Calgary didn’t crumble after the Stars tied it up. Just that alone shows me that this Flames team is more resilient than any of their squads in the recent past. Calgary needs to be smart though as Dallas’ big guns won’t stay quiet forever.

Michael - Calgary Flames 2 - Dallas Stars 3 (5OT) (OT)

I want to be positive heading into this game, I really do. However I just can’t shake the fact that the Flames have lost something like a dozen straight Game 2’s dating back to 2004. They have shown me a ton of reasons to get behind them, but the Flames are a team that LOVE to uphold curses so I expect it to continue tonight, even if I fully think they are capable of winning this game and the series. Look for some stupid stuff to happen.

Maddie: Calgary Flames 3 - Dallas Stars 1

Michael, please don’t put that overtime evil into the world. I’m begging you. Anyway...

I think the Flames are going to have a good Game 2. I liked a lot of their performance in Game 1 and I think the momentum they picked up will go a long way. If they can make sure their puck management is solid and limit their mistakes, they should be in good shape. I like their chances a lot in this one.

Renu: Calgary Flames 4 - Dallas Stars 1

Break the Game 2 Curse! August 13th, #13’s birthday — I hope he gets a birthday goal. I foresee Monahan with a hat trick tho, no reason really, but I hope he scores. Mark had a good point about how confident the Flames were after the unfortunate couple of goals that tied last game — Andersson was no sweat on that Game 1 winning goal.
