#10 Derek Ryan 7 GP, 1 G, 0 A, 1 Pt
Best Performance: November 21, 2018 - Empty Net Goal in 6-3 W
The Jets are one of only two teams that Ryan has scored just one point against, the other being Tampa Bay. He hasn’t fared well points-wise against the Jets but aim to change that in this series.
#11 Mikael Backlund 18 GP, 5 G, 7 A, 12 Pts
Best Performance: December 10, 2016 - 1 G 2 A in 6-2 W
Backlund had a three point second period and helped the Flames jump to a 5-0 lead in this game. He’s done well in his career against the Jets and looks to play a big role in shutting down the Jets big guns in the series.
#13 Johnny Gaudreau 15 GP, 9 G, 10 A, 19 Pts
Best Performance: December 27, 2018 - Hat Trick in 4-1 W
Gaudreau has scored nine goals against the Jets, his 2nd highest total against any opponenent, only behind the 10 he’s scored against in Edmonton in 27 games. It is also his 2nd highest goals per game against any opponent with 0.6G/Game , only behind Boston at 0.73G/Game
#16 Tobias Rieder 15 GP, 2 G, 2 A, 4 Pts
Best Performance: January 18 2015 (w/ ARI) - Game Tying Goal Late in 3rd in 4-3 SOL
Not much to say about Rieder, not even sure if he’ll get in or not for the series.
#17 Milan Lucic 37 GP, 8 G, 13 A, 21 Pts
Best Performance: October 25 2008 (w/ BOS) - 3G 1A in 5-4 W
A hat trick including the game winning goal with under two minutes to play highlights Lucic’s best game against the Jets franchise or at that time the Atlanta Thrashers. The Flames brought him in for the playoffs, lets see what he can do.
#19 Matthew Tkachuk 9 GP, 1 G, 6 A, 7 Pts
Best Performance: November 21 2018 - 1G 1A in 6-3 W
Aside from the Minnesota Wild, the Jets are the only other Western Conference team that Tkachuk has scored just one goal against. The Penguins are the only team he has yet to score against in his career as a whole. The pressure will be on Tkachuk in these playoffs after not performing well last year.
#23 Sean Monahan 16 GP, 4 G, 9 A, 13 Pts
Best Performance: December 27 2018 - 3A in 4-1 W
Up until last year Sean Monahan had quietly been a solid playoff performer for the Flames. He is what he is, a finisher and hopefully he can get to some of the softer zones of the Jets defense and put a few pucks past Connor Hellebuyck.
#28 Elias Lindholm 14 GP, 3 G, 6 A, 9 Pts
Best Performance: October 26 2019 - 1 G in 2-1 OTL
Lindholm scored the only goal for the Flames this year against the Jets with his powerplay marker in Regina. He hasn’t had any huge games against the Jets but has been fairly consistent since coming to the Flames with five points in four games against them.
#29 Dillon Dube 1 GP, 1 G, 0 A, 1 Pt
Best Performance: November 21 2018 - 1 G in 6-3 W
Dube scored the first goal of his NHL career last season in a 6-3 victory over the Jets. His goal kicked off a string of five unanswered goals in the first period for the Flames after they fell behind 1-0 early.
#36 Zac Rinaldo 13 GP, 2 G, 0 A, 2 Pts
Best Performance: February 23 2013 (w/PHI) - ENG in 5-3 W
Not much to add here, he hit the empty net with a second left to ensure a Flyer victory.
#77 Mark Jankowski 5 GP, 3 G, 1 A, 4 Pts
Best Performance: November 21 2018 - 1 G 1 A in 6-3 W
Jankowski has actually done pretty well against the Jets in his career relative to other opponents. He assisted on the aforementioned first career goal of Dillon Dube and added a goal of his own on November 21. He also scored a shorthanded goal in each of the other two meetings last year. Remains to be seen if he’ll actually be dressed in this series though.
#88 Andrew Mangiapane 3 GP, 0 G, 0 A, 0 Pts
Best Performance: N/A
Mangiapane has yet to put up any points against the Jets but I really expect that to change with this series as he’s taken on a very prominent role alongside Matthew Tkachuk and Mikael Backlund in the Top 6, and that line has been absolutely dominant.
#93 Sam Bennett 12 GP, 2 G, 3 A, 5 Pts
Best Performance: November 21 2018 - 1G 1 A in 6-3 W
Sam Bennett had a good game just like every other Flame did in that 6-3 win it seems. There will be a lot of pressure on Bennett to bring another strong playoff performance from his bottom six role.
#4 Rasmus Andersson 5 GP, 0 G, 0 A, 0 Pts
Andersson has yet to put up any points against the Jets but will have a big role in this series as he moves into an unquestioned Top 4 role. It’s been exciting to watch his development over the past few seasons and hopefully he can find a new gear in these playoffs.
#5 Mark Giordano 21 GP, 4 G, 12 A, 16 Pts
Best Performance: March 9 2012 - 1G 1A in 5-3 W
In the first ever game between the Flames and the new Winnipeg Jets, Gio chipped in with a goal and assist, both on the powerplay early in the first period. The game featured a four point night for Alex Tanguay and a three point night for Jarome Iginla as the Flames took the victory.
#7 T.J. Brodie 15 GP, 5 G, 7 A, 12 Pts
Best Performance: October 10 2017 - 2G 2A in 6-3 W
For whatever reason, T.J. Brodie really likes facing the Winnipeg Jets. He has the highest points per game of any Western Conference opponent and highest goals per game of any opponent overall. This was highlighted with a four point performance in 2017 during the Flames home opener, which was one of the best games of his career.
#20 Derek Forbort 10 GP, 0 G, 1 A, 1 Pt
Best Performance: January 14 2017 (w/LAK) - A in 3-2 OTW
Woo, he got an assist. He’ll likely face a bigger role than previously expected in this series with the opting out of Travis Hamonic. He will likely be looked upon to eat up a number of those minutes, especially on the penalty kill.
#55 Noah Hanifin 10 GP, 1 G, 5 A, 6 Pts
Best Performance: November 20 2016 (w/CAR) - G in 3-1 W
The Flames will be looking for Hanifin to have a better performance against the Jets as he’ll be tasked with one of the Jets top two lines which have a lot of speed.
#56 Erik Gustafsson 13 GP, 4 G, 8 A, 12 Pts
Best Performance: April 1 2019 - 3A in 4-3 L
Gustafsson has had by far the most success of his career against the Jets compared to any other team. They’re the only team that he has double digit point totals against and the Flames will be hoping he can add to that total in the qualifier round with him taking a spot on the powerplay.
#33 David Rittich, 3 GP, 2-0-1, .950 SV%, 1.97 GAA
Best Performance: December 27, 2018 - 35/36 in 4-1 W
Rittich has had sparkling numbers in a small sample size against the Jets over his career. While the starting goaltender position is up in the air, the Flames may consider his history against them as well.
#39 Cam Talbot, 11 GP, 6-4-1, .914 SV%, 3.10 GAA
Best Performance: October 23 2016 - 31/31 in 3-0 W
Talbot’s best performance against the Jets came in a 3-0 shutout victory during the last iteration of the Heritage Classic while he was with the Oilers.
