No Hamonic For Playoffs... Maybe Forever In Calgary

No, he's not injured.

We hope you spent a lot of 2019-20 looking at Travis Hamonic because he might be done with the Flames. The defenceman is an UFA at the end of the season and oddly enough, his season has ended.

No, Hamonic isn't injured, he's opted not to join the Flames for the NHL's Return To Play Program. Hamonic sited "family concerns" and with that decision, could potentially have played his last games with the Flames.

While disappointing because of what he brings to the team, putting your family before sport is commendable.

This leaves Calgary short a defenceman, which means you could see Rasmus Andersson slide up and play with either Mark Giordano or Noah Hanifin. Expect Michael Stone to see lots of ice time as the Flames try and shuffle their defence around. Juuso Valamaki's status is still up in the air, but the Flames have been cautious in bringing him along slowly from his injury.
