Lots Of Flames Prospects Have Summer Plans

The Flames got more good news on the prospect front as three of their young guns were invited to play some summer hockey.

Calgary announced this afternoon that Jakob Pelletier, Dustin Wolf and Josh Nodler all got the call from their respective countries one way or another. Pelletier was invited to play at Team Canada’s National Junior Team Sort Chek Summer Development Camp. The camp, which will done virtually due to Covid-19 restrictions, runs from July 27-31. Pelletier was recently traded from the Moncton Wildcats to the Val-d’Or Foreurs after three outstanding season in Moncton where he had 61, 89 and 82 point campaigns. The Quebec product was drafted by the Flames in 2019 with the 26th pick in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft.

You’ve surely heard of Dustin Wolf by now right? If you haven’t, please crawl out from whatever rock you are living under and start paying attention. The Flames goaltending prospect has been collecting post season hardware like it’s his job. The Everett Silvertips keeper was just named to Team USA’s World Junior Summer Showcase, which takes place in Plymouth Michigan and will run from July 24th to August 1st. The showcase is used as an evaluation for players who want to play in the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championships. Wolf has been a magnet for accolades as he was recently named the WHL’s Goaltender Of The Year, USA Hockey Dave Peterson Goalie Of The Year and the CHL’s Goaltender Of The Year as well. Not bad for being only 19 years old.

Joining him at the Team USA Showcase is Josh Nodler, a Flames prospect playing at Michigan State University. The 19 year old Michigan native was drafted #150 by the Flames in the 5th round of the 2019 NHL Entry draft and is in his first season of NCAA Hockey. Nodler played in 36 games for the Spartans, collecting eight points as a centre. Prior to MSU he played for the Fargo Force of the USHL with his best season coming in 2018-19 where he played in 54 games, scored 17 goals and collected 25 assists.
