Recap
Johnny Gaudreau buried a breakaway on MacKenzie Blackwood with 4 minutes remaining in regulation to cap off a successful road trip for the Calgary Flames. The Devils and Flames traded goals over the first two periods, before Johnny Hockey was able to break his breakaway curse with a low-blocker snipe.
Sam Bennett opened the scoring, ripping a one-timer off a Mark Giordano pass, through several Devils players. Kyle Palmieri evened the game after PK Subban’s slapshot deflected off of multiple bodies in front, and fell right to him where David Rittich stood no chance.

Derek Ryan and the third line stayed hot, as he tipped Milan Lucic’s centering pass between Blackwood’s legs.

The Devils would again answer, with Damon Severson’s shot being deflected by Nikita Gusev. Rittich’s paddle stopped most of the shot, but it just trickled over the goal line to knot the game at 2. Rittich made 36 saves in the win. Blackwood finished with 28.

David Rittich (G): Despite playing an inferior opponent, Rittich played well during some high pressure zone time. He had barely any chance on either Devil goal.
