Flames Acquire Derek Forbort from LA

The Calgary Flames have made their first trade of deadline day by acquiring Los Angeles Kings defenseman Derek Forbort. Forbort has dressed in just 13 games this season due to a back injury but played betwen 78-82 games each of the previous three seasons.

Forbort fits will as a guy who can fill in the Top 4 now while Mark Giordano and Travis Hamonic recover from injury then slide down to the bottom pair and significantly strength the bottom pairing. Forbort is a primarily defensive defenseman but has had between 14-18 points the last three years.

It sounds like a 4th round pick will be going back for Forbort with conditions. We will update you when we know more.
