Mangiapane Named 3rd Star of the Week

Not bad for an overage 6th round pick

What a week for Andrew Mangiapane. The Flames forward scored 5 goals and added an assist in three games. He recorded his first NHL hat trick and first 4 point game in the comeback victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Monday, before adding 2 more goals in last night’s win over Detroit. All of this ended with him being named the third star of the week in the NHL, along with Pavel Francouz of the Colorado Avalanche, and Mika Zibanejad of the New York Rangers.

He’s an RFA at the end of the season, and should command a significant raise on his 800K two-way contract that he’s currently on. Mangiapane has 15 goals and 27 points this season.
