NHL Standings

The Flames will wrap up a four game road trip with a stop in Anaheim to take on the Ducks. The Flames had their two game winning streak snapped last night at the hands of the lowly LA Kings, so who knows what to expect from the Flames tonight. For a team that’s fighting for it’s playoff lives they sure aren’t playing like it. While they dominated the Canucks and Sharks, Calgary laid a complete egg against an inferior opponent in Los Angeles. Calgary’s defence struggled without Mark Giordano and Travis Hamonic and their absence clearly showed the glaring holes in Calgary’s lineup.

Anaheim, unless something miraculously happens, will be watching playoff hockey from their collective couches. The Ducks are currently 6th in the Pacific and are 11 points out of the final Wild Card spot. The Ducks just snapped a two game losing streak and are 6-2-2 in their last 10, despite only scoring 19 goals in those six wins.

We all know the Flames history in Anaheim, but that needs to be put on the back burner. Calgary needs these two points, but the second night of a back to back hasn’t been kind to the Flames. Calgary is 1-3-0 on that second night and the idea of dealing with the ghosts of Honda Center can’t be too appealing. Calgary has lost 31 of their last 34 times they’ve visited the Ducks. Who’s excited? Sigh.
