NHL Standings

Two fights. Six goals. Big hits. Overtime. Shootout. Stick toss. The Flames and Oilers game from Wednesday night had it all, including a 4-3 Flames win. Calgary was able to snag two valuable points, but they also gave Edmonton one by letting that game get to overtime. That now puts both teams with the same number of points (60) and tied for second place in the Pacific Division, and 5th in the West.

You’d hope the shenanigans will be left behind tonight as it appears both the Flames and Oilers scratched their itch and hopefully have moved on. The third round of the Battle Of Alberta was surely exciting and it will no doubt be electric at the Saddledome tonight when these two take the ice. The Flames can take their 4th straight this season from Edmonton, something they haven’t done since 2015 when they swept the Oilers in all five games.

Calgary could catch a break tonight as Edmonton played Friday night against St. Louis, winning 4-2. Edmonton played at home, so the travel won’t be as grueling for them, but they are playing the second night of a back to back and are coming off an emotionally draining game against Calgary. With that said, the Oilers are 3-0 this season on the second night of back to back’s, but are 5-5-0 in their last 10 games at the Saddledome.
