The Flames, and fans, now know when their season will start and who they will be playing. The NHL released all of the team’s schedules and Calgary will open on January 14th at the Winnipeg Jets. Their first home games will be on January 16th & 18th as the Vancouver Canucks come to the Saddledome for a back to back.

The Flames won’t see Edmonton in January, but will see them in February, the first time on February 6th, one of three times that month. The Oilers and all of Calgary’s North Division foes will get to know each other very well as the teams will meet between 9-10 times over the course of the 56 game schedule. It’s also important to note that this will be the first time in the history of the NHL that there will be an all Canadian Division.

The longest break the Flames will have during the abbreviated season is a five day mini “break” after their two games with the Canucks on January 16th and 18th. Otherwise it’s all hands on deck as Calgary will be playing three to four games a week from then on out.

Teams will be traveling across Canada to start the season, visiting their opponents rink, but that plan could changed depending on what happens with the Coronavirus as the season progresses. Fans will not be allowed into any rink as the season begins, but there is also the chance that the league could go back to hub cities if the virus gets out of hand.

Here’s what the season openers look like for the rest of the league and visit the Calgary Flames official website for their full schedule.
