Flames Best #50 Of All Time: It’s a Four Way Tie

And not in a good way.

Well, number #50 presented itself with some interesting challenges as no player stood out or had any significant NHL time with the Flames wearing the #50. You could, sort of kind of, argue Patrick Sieloff’s case as he played in only one NHL game with the Flames and scored a goal. But that’s setting the bar REALLY low. Now, it’s too bad Pavel Torgaev didn’t wear it for his first stop with Calgary because in 1995-96 he played in 41 games and his 16 points are BY FAR the best of his career. It’s a shame though because he wore the #18 during that year, which ended up being the best of his two year NHL journey. His 1999-2000 spent with the Flames was not nearly as successful and finds him in a log jam of “Who’s” that have worn the #50. Yes, we don’t know anything about Arytom Zagidulin (besides having a kind of cool nickname?), so maybe some day he will end up as the best #50. But for now we are stuck with a four way tie of nothing as we hit the big 5-0.

#50: Pavel Torgaev (2000): 9 GP (2A), Dany Sabourin (2004): 4 GP, 0-3-0, 3.56 GAA, .848 Save%, Patrick Sieloff (2016): 1 GP (1G), Artyom Zagidulin (2020): no stats
