#15 - Emilio Pettersen
2019-20 Team: University of Denver (NCAA)
2020-21 Team: Stockton Heat (AHL)
Drafted in 2018, 6th Round, Pick 167
Last Year Ranking: #16
The Flames should start to consider trading to acquire as many 6th round selections as possible. Emilio Pettersen, selected 167th overall in 2018, looks to be continuing a successful streak of 6th round picks made by Brad Treliving.
Pettersen put up 30 points in 40 games in 2018-19 as a freshman for the University of Denver, however only 6 of those points were goals. He greatly improved his goal total and finished nearly a point-per-game in 2019-20. His goal total more than doubled to 13, which along with 22 assists left him at 35 points in 36 games when the season was shut down.
It wasn’t all bad news for Pettersen, who was signed to an entry-level contract by the Flames in April. This means that he will make his pro debut for the Stockton Heat when the AHL season likely begins in February 2021.
Other 6th round picks that have signed contracts under Treliving include Andrew Mangiapane (2015), Matthew Phillips (2016), and Eetu Tuulola (2016).
What do you think of Pettersen’s final ranking?
