The Flames have made another free agent signing from Sweden, this time it’s Joakim Nordstrom joining the team on a one year 700k league minimum deal. Nordstrom is coming off a season where he had seven points in 48 games for the Boston Bruins and two assists in 13 playoff games. Nordstrom primarily fit into the Bruins as a penalty killer and figures to take over part of the role Tobias Rieder and Mark Jankowski shared last season.

Nordstrom has also played for the Carolina Hurricanes and Chicago Blackhawks in his career, with his best season being 24 points in 71 games with Carolina in 2015-16. He was drafted by Chicago in the 3rd round of the 2010 draft.

With Nordstrom on the roster, the Flames have 3.2 M remaining of cap space with 11F 5D and 2G currently under contract.
