Glenn Gawdin and Matthew Phillips have been selected to the 2020 AHL All-Star Classic to play for Team Pacific. The event will be held on January 26 and 27 from Ontario, California.

Gawdin currently sits third in the entire AHL in scoring with 11 goals and 22 assists for 33 points in 30 games. Last season Gawdin only had 11 goals and 38 points in 64 games, so he’s a big improvement in his sophomore.

Phillips meanwhile has 30 points in 28 games, with 14 goals and 16 assists. His 14 goals tied Buddy Robinson for the team lead on the Heat. Unfortunately Phillips won’t be able to attend the event as he suffered a broken kneecap last week and is out month-to-month. It remains to be seen if the league might invite a replacement player from the Heat.

It’s certainly been an encouraging year from two of the Flames top remaining prospects in the system.
