NHL Standings

The Flames are back from the All Star Break and start a brief one game home stand with a visit from the St. Louis Blues. Calgary last took to the ice back on January 18th and delivered an absolute stinker of a loss, 5-2 to the lowly Ottawa Senators. Heading into the break with that hanging over the team clearly wasn’t exactly what Calgary wanted, but they had won six out of eight before heading on vacation. The Flames All Star reps played very well and maybe a little fun and relaxation is what this team needs to focus and be consistent from here on out.

A team that needs no wake up call is the St. Louis Blues. The defending Cup Champions are riding high in the Central Division with a six point lead over the Colorado Avalanche and the top spot in the Western Conference. The Blues did drop two in a row as they headed into hosting the All Star Game, but their play has still been outstanding. St. Louis is 12-3-2 in their last 17 and they’ll look to get back into the win column Tuesday night.

Calgary and St. Louis met back on November 21st with the Blues steamrolling the Flames 5-0. Calgary has only won twice in the last five times St. Louis has come to Calgary and the Blues won’t make this easy. St. Louis is 11th overall in goals for, they have the 4th best PP in the NHL, the 6th best face off % and they’re only allowing 2.67 goals per game, good for 7th best in the league.
