One of the long rumoured Flames to be traded is on the move. The Flames sent veteran forward Michael Frolik to the Buffalo Sabres for a 4th Round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft Thursday night. A bonus for the Flames is they won't have to eat any of Frolik's salary, which is valued at $4.3 million dollars for 2019-20. Frolik is an UFA at the end of the season. Buffalo will take on the remainder of his salary for the season.
The Czech Republic native spent 5 1/2 seasons with the Flames, playing in 319 games and scoring 63 goals and compiling 82 assists over that time frame. Frolik's play had declined over the last season and a half and the veteran was a healthy scratch at times. His name had frequently been tossed around as a potential target to be traded and his sub-par play has made him expendable.
