Flames Buyout Michael Stone

Stone’s tenure with the Flames ends a year early

NHL: Vancouver Canucks at Calgary Flames Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports

It was a deal that really didn’t make sense from the day it was signed. When Brad Treliving extended a three year offer with a $3.5M AAV, a lot of us saw this coming. Now, with limited cap space and an already crowded blue line the Flames have officially bought out the contract of Michael Stone.

With the buyout the Flames will save 2.333M of cap space this year but be on the hook for 1.166M for the next two years.

It didn’t make sense before, and now the Flames pay for the consequences of a poor deal yet again.
