Pelletier immediately jumped in to the Top 25 and cracked the Top 15 as Calgary’s first round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Despite being only 18 years old, Pelletier is highly thought of among scouts and his draft status showed that. The Quebec native is currently a member of the Moncton Wildcats of the QJMHL and will look to follow up his stellar 2018-19 season with even better numbers in 2019-20....if that’s where he ends up. Last season the forward played in 65 games and scored 39 goals while tallying 50 assists. His post season numbers were decent as he put up three points in seven games.

Scouts tend to gush over his scoring prowess and skating ability. Phrases like “shifty,” “good speed” and player maker” are just a few of the ways Jakob Pelletier has been described. And for those who roll their eyes at his size (this is a trend with Flames prospects) there’s this description that should make you happy:

Pelletier is yet to sign with the Flames, but he had a good developmental camp by all accounts and you’d have to think the Flames will be inking the #26 overall pick sooner than later.
