With the Flames holding Pick #26 and different possibilities swirling about the trading of the pick, I wanted to look at some of the players picked with Pick #26. Obviously you can’t judge the picks value based on other players as it comes down to the competencies of the various scouting staffs involved, but here’s an idea of the kind of players chosen and their career numbers.

Only eight players selected at Pick#26 have ended up playing more than 100 games with their draft club which is somewhat surprising. That’s not even a season and a half.
Of the players selected, the biggest names are Martin Havlat, Brian Boyle, David Perron, and rapidly rising Capitals star Evgeny Kuznetsov.
The Flames made a pair of selections at #26 and certainly had no luck with those picks, drafting Leland Irving and Matt Pelech who combined to play just 18 games for Calgary.
Hopefully they can reverse this trend by finding a long-term contributor with this year’s selection.
