Calgary Flames At The IIHF World Championships Update #2

Johnny Gaudreau is out with an injury, but there’s another Flames player lightning it up at the tournament.

The IIHF WC’s are rolling right along with the quarterfinals coming up on May 23rd. Calgary has five players involved in the games, with three of those being on Team USA. Johnny Gaudreau, Noah Hanifin and Derek Ryan are in third place in Group A behind Finland and Canada. While Ryan and Hanifin have found success over seas, Johnny Gaudreau is listed as day-to-day with an injury he sustained in a 6-3 victory over Great Britain.

For a look at someone NOT struggling, look no further than Michael Frolik. The Czech Republic native has six goals and six assists so far as his team sits in second place in Group B, three points behind front running Russia.

Rounding out the Flames entrants in the IIHF WC’s is Elias Lindholm and his six points. Sweden is currently in third place in Group B, though they have the same amount of points as the team ahead of them: Czech Republic.

Goals: 6, Assists: 6, Points: 12

Elias Lindholm– Sweden (5-0-0-1)

Goals: 1, Assists: 5, Points: 6
