Well, now that the season is over and everyone has hopefully collected themselves we still have some hockey to talk about. No, not the playoffs as those are FAR in the rear view mirror at this point, but the World Championships.
The IIHF World Championships will take place in Kosice and Bratislava, Slovakia from May 10-26 and the Flames will be well represented. Johnny Gaudreau, Derek Ryan and Noah Hanifin will be playing for Team USA when the teams hit the ice in a few weeks. Mikael Backlund notably said “no” to playing for Sweden because he and his wife are expecting, but his one of his line mates will be playing. Michael Frolik has accepted the invite and will suit up for the Czech Republic for the 2019 IIFH tournament.
Reports are floating around that Elias Lindholm is still deciding whether or not to suit up and play for Sweden as well, so there could be more announcements down the road.
Johnny Gaudreau, Noah Hanifin & Derek Ryan have been added to the U.S. Men’s National Team roster for #IIHFWorlds.
