Calgary Flames 4 - Colorado Avalanche 0
Tidbits
-Odd Couple: Derek Ryan has played in 234 career NHL games and Bill Peters has coached in 410 NHL games, yet this was the first playoff game either has been involved in.
-Bread Comes First: Andrew Mangiapane is certainly making the most of his time with the Flames. He got Calgary on the board first last night with that sweet wrap around goal, making it his first ever point in the NHL Playoffs.
-Speaking Of Firsts: It’s hard to believe with the success Matthew Tkachuk has had at the NHL level that he’s never had a point in the playoffs (4 games prior to last night). Well, he changed that dramatically last night with two of the Flames four goals to get his first two points of his career in the playoffs.
-Shut ‘Em Up, Shut ‘Em Down: Mike Smith was lights out last night, stopping all 26 Colorado shots to earn the shut out. It’s the 4th career shut out he’s registered in the playoffs in 20 career starts.
