At their annual year end awards ceremony before the Clarkson Cup Finals, Calgary Inferno starting netminder Alex Rigsby took home the Canadian Women’s Hockey League’s Goalie Of The Year Award last night.

Alex managed to capture the trophy with the league’s fourth best SV% (.916), second least goals allowed (35), and second best GAA (2.04). In seventeen games played she was credited with 14 wins and 2 losses.

At the awards ceremony held in Toronto, six Inferno players and personnel were nominated for individual trophies, but Rigsby was the only one to walk away with a piece of hardware.

Rigsby and her Inferno mates will take to the ice tomorrow morning at 10:00AM Calgary time against Les Canadiennes de Montreal in the Clarkson Cup Championship Game, and you can catch all the action on Sportsnet. Check back with Matchsticks & Gasoline for all your post-game analysis tomorrow!
