Calgary Flames vs NJ Devils, 7PM MT, Scotiabank Saddledome, Calgary AB
TV: SNW - Radio: Sportsnet 960
Calgary Flames 42-20-7 (91 pts) - NJ Devils 25-35-9 (59 pts)
The Flames will try and extend their winning streak to two games as the NJ Devils make their only visit to the Saddledome Tuesday night. Calgary is coming off an offensive explosion against the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday night. The Flames put six pucks in the net which is the most goals Calgary has scored since 6-4 victory over the Detroit Red Wings back on January 18th. The Flames were carried by their 3M Line on Sunday night (11 points total for that line) and that was a pleasant change seeing Calgary’s bottom six had been doing all the heavy lifting for a bit. Missing in the mix is the Flames top line of Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan and Elias Lindholm. That threesome has only one goal (Monahan) in their last five games.
As much as we think the Flames have issues lately and they’re only one point out of the top spot in the West and Pacific it could be much worse. It could be NJ worse. The Devils are in 14th place in the Eastern Conference, an unfathomable 52 points behind front running Tampa Bay. NJ is currently mired in a six game losing streak and have lost eight out of their last ten games. Complicating matters is NJ’s play when they are away from the Prudential Center. The Devils are 8-23-3 on the road, but they are 6-5-1 against the Pacific Division this season.
These two last met on February 27th with the Flames winning 2-1 and that loss was the start of NJ’s current six game losing skid. History has not been kind to the Devils as the Flames own a 34-8-8 record at home against NJ and they’ve won four out of the last five games at the Dome.
