NHL Standings

The Flames return home after a very unsuccessful trip through the Southwestern United States to take on the Vegas Golden Knights. Calgary has dropped four in a row and they have seen their lead in the Western Conference evaporate to a one game deficit. The Flames offence has dried up completely as they have been outscored 12-5 over the four game skid, but it hasn’t been limited to losses only. Calgary hasn’t scored more than 3 goals since a 4-2 victory over the Islanders back on February 20th.

Where the Flames are sinking at the wrong time, the Golden Knights are ramping it up when it counts. Vegas is riding high on a current six game winning streak, including two shut outs against the the Anaheim Ducks and Vancouver Canucks. What seemed like a significant distance to the top of the Pacific Division isn’t so big anymore. Vegas is only eight points behind the Flames and nine behind front running San Jose.

These two last met on March 6th with Vegas winning at home 2-1. The loss in Vegas was Calgary’s fourth in a row and made their season record 1-2-0 against Vegas in 2018-19.
