The NHL announced their monthly awards for the month of January today and Johnny Gaudreau received first star honours. Gaudreau had 8 goals and 10 assists in 11 games for the Flames, helping the team go 9-1-1 in the month of January.
This makes it 2 consecutive months that Gaudreau has been honored in the Star of the Month awards, as he was 2nd Star in December behind Nikita Kucherov. This is also the 2nd time in his career that he’s been 1st star of the month, winning the award in December 2015.
As the Flames have risen this year, so too has Johnny Gaudreau risen into the Hart trophy conversation, and this accolade will further strengthen his case.
