More information came out today in regards to Bill Peters’ treatment of players who have played for him in the past.

If you aren’t up to speed, here’s what has happened so far:

-On Monday November 25th, during the Flames 3-2 OT loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins, former NHL player (former Flame) Akim Aliu accused Peters via Twitter of using the “N word” several times in his direction while he was a member of the Rockford Ice Hogs and Peters was his coach during the 2009-10 season.

-On Tuesday, November 26th, former Carolina Hurricanes defenceman Michal Jordan came out and said there were “multiple, physical confrontations” between he and Peters when Peters was the head coach of the Carolina Hurricanes. Jordan played for Peters from 2014 until 2016. The coach allegedly kicked Jordan and punched another player as well.

All of this combined leads up to today’s news where Carolina Hurricanes Head Coach Rod Brind’Amour addressed the media and confirmed the two incidents that occurred with the Canes during that time frame.

“If you’re talking about the incident, you know with Bill, it for sure happened, the two incidents in question.” –Rod Brind’Amour, Carolina Hurricanes Head Coach

The incidents were brought to Hurricanes management (a different group than who is in charge in Carolina) and it was “dealt with.”

As for how this affects the Flames now, Bill Peters will not be behind the bench in Buffalo tonight. Flames Associate Coach Geoff Ward will take over coaching duties tonight as the Flames take on the Sabres.

Calgary GM Brad Treliving has not addressed the media today, but has said the Flames are still currently investigating the situation. Despite multiple, early reports yesterday Bill Peters has NOT been fired by the Flames.

Keep it here for any and all updates in regards to this fluid situation.
