We’ve already addressed the trade potential this week, so let’s put that aside for a few. It’s time to look at the next, maybe, best option for some of the Flames under-performing stars who don’t look like they care to be on the ice: a trip to the press box.

Now, it’s HIGHLY doubtful that the Flames brass will scratch Sean Monahan, Johnny Gaudreau, Mikael Backlund or Mark Giordano, but why the hell not? Say they sit Gaudreau, Monahan and their five goals over the last 20 games. Say they sit Mikael Backlund and his three goals in that same time span? When’s the last time Giordano put a puck within five feet of an opposing net?

The Flames have scratched Mark Jankowski and Michael Frolik so far this season and with good reason: they’ve been BRUTAL. So, despite the hefty salary and being “leaders” on this team, why are those players above being scratched? They are under-performing just as badly as Janko and Frolik, so why not sit them?
