The Morning After
Calgary Flames 2 - St. Louis Blues 3
Tidbits
-Gone streaking: Matthew Tkachuk scored a goal last night, marking his 10th of the season and his third goal scored in his last three games played against the Blues. St. Louis may give the Flames some trouble (they’ve lost three of their last four meetings), but Tkachuk seems to be fueled by playing his hometown team.
-First things first: And speaking of goals! Travis Hamonic picked up his first goal of the season on that pretty nifty backhander to tie things up and send the Flames to overtime. Not a bad way to pick up the first one, if we do say so ourselves.
-By the numbers: Despite how well the Blues were doing trying to shut down the Flames defensively, they were still able to match them just about blow for blow. At 5-on-5, they matched the Blues with 38 shot attempts, recorded 21 shots to the Blues’ 22, and put up six high danger chances to the Blues’ five. They were hanging right there with them, they just fell short a bit in opportunism.
