The architect of the Calgary Flames will be with the organization for the foreseeable future. As Calgary prepares for their opening night tilt with the Avalanche, they are also looking towards the future.
The Flames and GM Brad Treliving agreed to a contract extension this afternoon. Details of the deal haven't been released, but it's a "multi year" extension for the Flames front office captain.
Treliving has done a great job locking Calgary's young core up and making the team competitive. Where Treliving has struggled is with free agent signings, giving big names big money and the results haven't turned out well. With all that said, for the Flames, the good clearly outweighed the bad and the guy who helped build the second best team during the regular season last year will be in Calgary for a while.
