What do you get for ending a 75 game streak without a goal? You get put on waivers. This morning the Flames placed the 26 year old native of Germany on waivers for the purpose of assignment. This move gives the Flames a few options for Rieder if he doesn’t get claimed. If he clears he will most likely head to Stockton to join the Heat or he can stay on the Flames roster for 30 days. It is yet to be seen what the Flames will do with Rieder’s roster spot as they are up against the wall with their cap situation.

The move is a semi head scratcher as Rieder had been having a decent run with Calgary when he was in the lineup. He’s seen the ice nine times so far this season, only scoring one time, but the effort has been there. He is a -4, which isn’t pretty, but there are many factors that can go into finding yourself in the negative part of the ledger when it comes to +/-. Rider was averaging 11:36 TOI with the Flames which is better than Mark Jankowski, Austin Czarnik and Andrew Mangiapane.

In 388 career games Tobias Rieder has 129 points by way of 56 goals and 73 assists.
