NHL Standings

The Flames will finish up their three game road trip through the West Coast with a stop in San Jose to take on the Sharks Sunday night. The Flames are currently 1-1-0 on the trek with a bad loss in Vegas being their last time out. Calgary had a 2-1 lead Saturday night and that lead QUICKLY evaporated as Vegas scored five straight goals to send them Flames away with their 5th straight loss in Vegas.

The Flames PP is hurting right now, having only scored three times in the 14 chances they have had with the extra skater. The Flames aren’t putting the puck in the net much either so far. Calgary hasn’t scored more than three goals this season in any of their five games so far and they’re taking a ton of penalties. The Flames are only killing penalties at a rate of 81%, which for a team that spends a lot of time in the box, isn’t great.

Speaking of not great, here’s the 2019-20 San Jose Sharks! San Jose is currently at the bottom of the Pacific and near the bottom of the Western Conference. San Jose had dropped their first four games of the season before finally winning their first of the season, a 5-4 victory over the equally as bad Chicago Blackhawks. The Sharks are 27th in the league in GF with only 10 and tied for first in GA with 21. Not a good combination.

The Flames and Sharks split their meetings last season, with each team winning once on the road. Since 2010 the Flames are 8-13-0 when visiting San Jose and have dropped 3 of their last four meetings in the Sharks barn.
