Rate the Flames (6) vs Red Wings (4): Depth? Depth!

Calgary got a lot of depth scoring in the victory over Detroit

NHL: Detroit Red Wings at Calgary Flames Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports

A major topic of discussion over the last few weeks has been whether or not the Flames should look to shore up their depth scoring which hadn’t been providing much. Tonight the depth came through in a big way as the Flames downed the Detroit Red Wings by a score of 6-4. Four Flames goals game in the third period of course, but the story of the game was a couple guys who have been famously snakebitten finding the back of the net.

Sam Bennett had two goals including the game winner and an assist, T.J. Brodie had a goal and two assists, and James Neal had a goal and an assist. Derek Ryan had one of his best nights of the year, setting up a Mark Giordano tying goal in the third, before setting up Bennett’s go ahead goal late. Sean Monahan also scored in the victory for Calgary with Johnny Gaudreau extending his point streak to ten games with an assist.

Mike Smith had an average night for him, saving 31 of 35, but he’s winning his starts, so I guess that’s what is important for now.

Anyways, time to Rate them!
