Calgary Flames 7 - Arizona Coyotes 1
The Flames tied their season high win streak last night at five with a 7-1 dismantling of the Arizona Coyotes. Calgary got a point from all four lines last night and Mike Smith was outstanding between the pipes, winning for the third time against his old team since joining the Flames. The win puts Calgary three points ahead of the Sharks in the Western Conference’s top spot. Here’s the rest of the best that wasn’t covered in our recap or Rate The Flames.
Tidbits
-800 Club: Last night Mark Giordano played in his 800th career NHL game. That puts him 4th all time in games played with the Flames and he can pass Al MacInnis (803) when the Flames play Carolina on January 22nd.
-MangiaFINALLY- Andrew Mangiapane finally collected his first NHL point when he grabbed an assist on Mark Giordano’s first period goal.
-Go Johnny Go: Johnny Gaudreau had another multi point game last night (goal and an assist) which now puts him at 69 points. He passed Mikko Rantanen and is in 2nd place in the scoring race, just six points behind Nikita Kucherov.
